Using your School Grounds to Teach the Curriculum (KS1-4)
Dates: Thursday 4th March 2010

Unlock the potential of your school grounds to teach the curriculum, enhancing and extending work taking place in the classroom. During the course we’ll look at a variety of innovative approaches to Maths, Literacy, Geography and History in the outdoors using proven activities. Take time to consider site specific issues affecting your school grounds. Look at the grounds of the host school and their solutions to take the curriculum outside.
Eco Schools I (KS1-4)
Dates: Tues 16th March 2010

This practical session provides an overview of the Eco Schools Award Scheme and DfES Sustainable Schools Programme. If your school is thinking of starting the Award or is in the early stages then this course is perfect for you. Bringing together schools and practitioners from around the county you will find out about the support available on Waste, Travel, Energy and more. You will leave the session with a clear understanding of how to take the Eco Schools Programme forward in your school.
Going on a Learning Hunt (KS 1&2)
Dates: Thurs 18th March 2010

Thinking about taking your class outside to explore the environment around them? This course is a great starting point to learn creative and engaging activities and games that will bring the experience alive. We will look at seasonal activities for Spring and Summer that can be used for various topics and curriculum areas and can be done simply within your school grounds or beyond! The course will also cover risk assessments and managing groups outdoors.

Creating a Green Vision for your School (KS1-4)

Going green is a challenge facing all schools but how do we plan to create a sustainable future? This course is intended for school governors, senior management team members and individuals involved in the strategic planning of the school. Run by Northmoor Trust staff with many years experience in the Environmental and Sustainability sector this course will help give you the tools to create a holistic and practical vision for greening your school.
Eco Schools Course II (KS1-4)
Dates: Friday 11th June 2010
Northmoor Trust 9:30am - 3:15pm (KS1-4)
This interactive session will explore in more depth how your school can work through the Eco-School Award Scheme. You will be encouraged to bring your eco-school work plans with you to discuss and share and will receive support, case studies and data specific to your school from practitioners and green-flag schools. This session is recommended for schools already working on an award.
