Practical Conservation Workshops at the Northmoor Trust Estate, Oxfordshire

Learn a new skill! The Northmoor Trust has some unique hurdle weaving, basket making, hedge laying and coppicing workshops lined up for this winter and next spring.

All workshops cost £40, or £32 to Friends. Book a workshop and join as a Friend for only £50.

Unless otherwise stated, all courses are held at Northmoor Trust's Hill Farm Centre, Little Wittenham, Oxon.

Hurdle Weaving
Saturday 15th November 2008: 10am – 4pm (Crowmarsh Riverside)
Sunday 8th February 2009: 10am-4pm (Hill Farm)
One day workshop making traditional hazel hurdles to take home. Whether you want to camouflage a compost heap, disguise a dustbin or make an interesting trellis this course is for you.

Winter 2 day hedge laying course
17th & 18th January 2009 (*Fully Booked)
31st January & 1st February 2009
7 & 8th February 2009
21st & 22nd February 2009 (ADVANCED SKILLS)

A two-day, hands-on course suitable for anyone who would like to learn these traditional skills; covering facing up, cleaning out, laying over, staking up, heathering stakes and cutting back. All specialist tools and equipment will be supplied.

Coppicing
Sunday 11th January 2009: 10am- 4pm

A one-day, hands-on course suitable for anyone who would like to learn the traditional skills of coppicing. Includes the use of cut matierial to make 'donuts' to protect re-growth from browsing animals. All specialist tools & equipment supplied.
