Sustainable Farming
The Sustainable Farming Initiative was established in 1997 in response to concerns about the impact of intensive farming on wildlife and the environment.
The initiative's aims are to develop, research and promote ways in which farmers can………………….
- increase the wildlife value of their farm,
- reduce adverse impacts of farming practices on the environment,
- improve farm animal welfare,
- add value to farm enterprises to improve their economic viability,
- re-connect people with farming and food production,
………..to enhance the economic, social and environmental fabric of the countryside.
The project includes producing full data on farm performance, quantifying the costs of conservation work, a monitoring and survey programme for wildlife and research into new farming methods and ways to enhance biodiversity on farmland.
