CHILDREN'S FOOD FESTIVAL 2009 FEEDBACK

CHEFS

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. It was a thrillingly wonderful weekend. I feel very honoured to have been part of it, as do so many others.
Sophie Grigson, Patron

I had fun! I am sure a load of kids will want to get into the kitchen because of it. Can’t say better than that!
Sam Stern

I’d love to get more involved with the festival next time and it would be brilliant if it was an annual event. Thanks for making it work so well!
Stefan Gates

What a fantastic weekend! I felt so proud to be part of it! When my son woke up this morning, the first thing he said was “Can we go back to the children's food festival next weekend?”
Amanda Grant, cookery writer

VISITORS

The food festival was more than fabulous. Amazing! We all had such fun and my boys took away loads of goodies for their vegetable patch. Thank you beyond words - chocolate heaven as well. We’re making one of the recipes now – we’re so inspired!
Zita, Oxford

Lots of happy children with hands in bowls making good food - it was marvellous.
Nora Sands, from Jamie’s School Dinners

I have heard so much about Raymond Blanc, but seeing him cooking live was awesome.
Mark, 13 years old

I never realised making a salad dressing was so easy. The rocket was a little hot, but I liked the pea tops.
Sam, 9 years old

Pretending to be a celebrity chef and getting the you-tube link was a great idea.
Mitchell, 7 years old, London

Sunrise Multicultural Play Project attended with 54 children from the BME community, who come from one of the most deprived areas of Oxfordshire. For the children it was an experience of a life time and they were able to try things that they had never tried before.
Some of the parents went as helpers to the event and also enjoyed it – they could not believe how organised and wonderful the experience was.
Assia, Banbury

I attended the Festival with my young twins and thought it was brilliantly organised. It was wonderful to see so many kids completely engaged with the joys of cooking and learning about food in new and original ways. I came away convinced that the Children’s Food Festival is the Woodstock of the 21st Century!
Roman, Oxford

My family had a wonderful day out. It was very well organised, parking was spacious and well directed, and all the staff were very friendly and looked like they too were enjoying themselves. There was plenty to do and taste - great flavours, displays and demonstrations made this a cracking day for the children and us. I’m certainly going to put this in the family diary for next year.
Caroline, Dave, Morgan and Tomas.
I thought the festival was well laid out, and there was so much to do for all ages. My 2 young (3 & 5 years) children tried and tasted everything (well almost!). In fact my son, who is 5, put his apron on first thing this morning to "do some cooking" and he wants to return today. I do hope you continue with it and that it becomes an annual event. We had a great time, and are enjoying trying all our freebies!
Vicki

I learnt so much while my while my children were having fun cooking, it was great. I will try to cook more often with them now that I realise they can help with every day cooking, I hadn’t really thought about cooking with children in that way before.

The venue was superb, the scenery awesome, what could be better than to be on top of the world surrounded by good food, happy kids and the sun blessing us all.
Sue, Oxford

EXHIBITORS

Well done for staging such a fantastic event. We really couldn't have hoped for better. From our point of view your organisation of the event was excellent - the team both beforehand and during the event were fantastic - helpful, proactive and enthusiastic.
Sue Braithwaite, Slow Food

I was very impressed indeed with the whole set up. I personally had a really fun day and enjoyed the event enormously.
Dominic Lowe, Managing Director, Green and Black's

There was such a good mix of children from countryside and inner city areas, all of whom were really interested in the animals and where food comes from which was fantastic.
Nik Tobutt, Garden Quails

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for the opportunity to be involved in such an amazing event! We have received tremendous feedback and lots of enquiries about our franchise and nursery visits as a result of our involvement and above all we have a fantastic time too!
Lucy Thomas, Mange Tout

I was thrilled to have been asked to be a part of the Children's Food Festival as its reputation spoke volumes. Being there on the weekend itself far exceeded my expectations: a fantastic range of eating experiences for children - from chocolate tea cups to fried grass-hoppers - where else would you find this? The opportunity for kids to roll up their sleeves, don their aprons and really get involved. On my website I promote a Chinese proverb: Tell me and I'll forget, show me and I may remember, involve me and I'll understand. The festival embraced this ethos entirely. I can't wait for next year's!
Fiona Faulkner, Founder of Toddler Chef

The Children’s Food Festival was a fantastic event, extremely well organised and ticked all of our boxes in terms of our participation.
Danielle Carpenter, Consumer Marketing Manager, Dyson Airblade

The whole event was absolutely wonderful. All the Local Flavours Market producers are very keen to attend the next one. Everyone agreed it was the most stunning venue, brilliant weather and just a fantastic weekend, we all had a brilliant time. We'd love to be involved in the next one.
Wendy Hole, BBO Food Group

Thank you very much for letting us be part of the Children’s Food Festival. It was by far the best run and the best attended festival we have been to all summer. We very much hope to be part of the event again.
Dani, The Cotswold Ice Cream Co

What a huge achievement. It worked so beautifully and had a wonderfully idealistic, energetic and fun vibe. The crowd was obviously having a great time and so were we.
Georgia Coleridge, compere, Q & A Tent and author of ‘Seven Secrets of Successful Parenting’.
Congratulations and thank you for an excellent Children's Food Festival at the weekend. I really enjoyed getting involved once again. I hope it was a success for you all and that this becomes an annual fixture.
Dominic Weaver, RED Communications
The Children’s Food Festival 2009 was a fantastic experience for the Vegetarian Society. Having attended the event in 2007, we were thrilled to receive an even more exceptionally positive response from parents and children visiting the festival. The organisation of the event was excellent and we would love to come back again next year.
Graham Drummond, Communications & Events Officer, The Vegetarian Society

Thank you so much for all the hard work you put in organising the Food Festival. We had a really good weekend. It was so nice to be somewhere where people generally shared the same philosophy as us about children’s food and were so enthusiastic about what we were all doing! We would love to be involved if you have the energy to organise another festival.
